Why Every Botanical Detail Is a Little Different at SCENTPIECE

Fine Leaf botanical candle with narrow green leaves and small red-pink flowers

Botanical details vary because real flowers and leaves do not grow in identical shapes. Our team gathers, dries and selects the plant material, looking for complete leaf shapes and full flower forms. The exact outline, color and arrangement can differ from piece to piece; the named design and fragrance you select still matter.

A little curve at the edge of a leaf. A flower that opens more generously on one side. These are the details that make us stop and look before choosing a piece of botanical material. Our aim is to give those small shapes a place in an object you can enjoy every day.

How we select dried flowers and leaves

The work begins before the plants become decoration. Our team gathers the flowers and leaves, dries them, then selects the shapes we want to work with. We look for leaves with an intact, pleasing outline and flowers with a full form.

Drying preserves a different expression of a plant from the one you see while it is growing. A leaf’s veins, a petal’s edge and the space around a flower become part of the composition. Choosing material is therefore also a design decision: which shapes will read clearly, and which details deserve room to be seen?

That attention is a small part of our story as a team of artisans. Here, we are looking at its practical result: how the botanical surface relates to the piece you choose online.

Look at the outline before the color

In a product image, begin with the larger shapes. Are the leaves narrow and upright, or rounder and broader? Are the flowers a small accent or the main visual focus? These details often tell you more about the design than a tiny color difference between screens.

Fine Leaf detail. Follow the narrow leaf outlines and the spaces between them.

Then notice the spacing. A plant detail can feel light and open when there is more pale wax around it, or more visually substantial when broader leaves occupy the surface. Neither effect establishes the fragrance: leaf shape is a design feature, not an ingredient label.

Natural variation should not make choosing confusing

A handmade botanical surface is not a pixel-for-pixel copy of a listing image. But that does not make every difference interchangeable. Use the named selection as the starting point, then look at the individual botanical details.

What to compare when your piece arrives.
Detail How to read it
Small leaf contours, flower shapes and placement Real botanical material can vary in these details.
Named design and listed fragrance Check these against the selection on your order. Natural variation is not a reason to substitute a different option.
Broken wax, loose decoration or an item that seems wrong Contact us with photographs and your order details. Do not assume damage is simply a handmade characteristic.

Made after you order, chosen for someone’s space

We make our pieces after an order is placed and include gift packaging. There is something personal about selecting a shape and fragrance for a room—or for a person you know well—then letting the small natural details make that piece its own.

For a gift, begin with the recipient’s preferred fragrance and the kind of botanical design they enjoy. If you want to add an outer wrapping, our candle gift-wrapping guide explains how to protect delicate decoration without pressing paper directly against it.

If an exact decorative detail is especially important to your decision, contact SCENTPIECE before ordering so we can clarify the listing. You can also ask about making and delivery timing before choosing a gift for a particular date.

Quick answers about botanical details

Will my botanical candle look exactly like the picture?

The named design is your reference, but individual flowers, leaf outlines, colors and placement can vary. Check the selection name and fragrance as well as the photograph.

Are Fine Leaf and Broad Leaf just natural variations of the same option?

No. They are two separately named Nordic Impression designs. Both list Rose des Vents fragrance and a 300 g weight, but the leaf compositions are different choices.

Should I treat broken or loose decoration as normal variation?

No. Contact SCENTPIECE with photographs and your order details if the wax or decoration is damaged or the item seems different from your order. Do not light a damaged candle while waiting for guidance.
